Leaders & Staff

To successfully lead people, one need to understand people.

We need good leaders, good staff and a proper balance between the two. And this whilst maintaining a financially viable business.

In this digital era, that thrives on speed and heavy information overload, it often feels impossible to find this balance – this status quo. We have little (or no) support when it comes to finding our bearings in a sea of contradictional messages. At the same time we have to co-operate and co-exist. It is necessary that we find a solution. If we don’t, it reflects on the financial status of our company and the well-being of our people working there.

Storytelling

Stories can be told in many ways.

Stories come in a variety of shapes and forms, and can be told in many ways using different tools. They clarify. They put things in perspective.

They are commonly used in order to provide a means, by which something can be understood or perceived. Often these stories can help clarifying things that would otherwise take the listener (viewer) longer to grasp – should he or she have to wait to experience it personally – by providing a different perspective and presenting a possible shortcut for personal development.

Company culture

What people hear and do and how they act, not what they say.

The Company culture is the soul of a company. The personality. The attitude. That elusive sense or feeling that things are either this way or that way. And the leaders set the tone.

Culture is what is really going on. Seeing what really is, is the cue to change and development. You cannot affect culture by painting pictures of greener pastures or sweet talking. You need to “be” culture. Plain. Simple. And true. Or else you’ll loose your credibility. So if you do not, from the bottom of your heart, love to dance, don’t say you do. Cause if you do, you will be dancing alone comes nightfall. There is nowhere to hide.

Mindfulness

Being in the present moment.

Most of us spend our time preoccupied by thoughts, ruminating about the past or worrying about the future. None of which we can do much about. We are in our heads instead of in the real world.

Mindfulness is all about being in the present moment. To step out of our brains and into the Here and Now. To create a bit of a distance between ourselves and our thoughts. Not turning them off. Not shutting them down. But listening to them chattering away, as we would listen to children at the playground – with half an ear.

Organisational structure

Ensures correct and immediate results at any given moment.

The foundation of a company is the cornerstone for building a successful business. Build it on rocky ground, and it will shake to the core comes the first storm.

A solid company structure ensures a healthy working environment where employees can stay, thrive, and develop both themselves and the business. In doing so they add cruical value to the service deliverables. This, in turn, generate loyal customers and clients.

Organisational structure paves way for company culture.

Artificial Intelligence

And then Man created Machine, and gave it "life".

Intelligence is what intelligent beings perceive as intelligent. It’s how us humans look at what’s around us, and how we identify with this. It’s in our categorisation of human and non-human. In what’s humane and what’s not.

Thus we can adore a mechanical vacuum cleaner, giving it nick names and feeling sorry for it when it hits a wall. Thus we can pat a robot on the head, complimenting it on completing its rather stiff dance routine (and actually mean it). Thus we can, at the same time, truly hate the man on death row. Thus we can feel totally disconnected and apart from the terrorist.

Workplace efficiency

Using time and energy in a way that does not create waste.

For things to run smooth, be it human or machine, a certain level of efficiency needs to be reached. Efficiency is when an individual, a system or a machine can be said to be working well and quickly without leaving any waste.

Common forms of waste are mental illness, software or mechanical errors, failing strategies and costly operations. To achieve a successful business we need to constantly strive to reduce these.

Stress reduction

Defining coping strategies and finding time for rest and recreation.

A heavy information overload puts strain on our cognitive systems. In today’s society stress reduction is a necessary survival component.

Living under cognitive pressure in a world of impressions, trigger our stress responses constantly. Developing skills to balance up-time with down-time is cruical. We need to make time for down-time. Most of us no longer get it naturally. Instead, we have to plan for it to happen. Our quality of life depends on it.

Digital transformation

Improvement or implementation of The Emperor's new Clothes?

Digital transformation can be many things. The currently widely spread approach is dabbing on the surface. This by using automation, assisitive tech, various digital tools, solutions, apps etc. By doing so we are making our IT infrastructure platform into a giant addon, where we have little or no control over the “structured life form” we call “the supporting company and business infrastructure”.

This ”dabbing” is important (even necessary), but it’s also important to understand that you cannot build a house with paint alone. There need to be foundation, walls and ceiling or the house will crumble and fall. Making sure it stands is digital transformation.

Art & Crafts

The conception of art belongs to no one, not even the artist.

The perception of Art is constantly changing. What’s redeemed beautiful one day, can be cast away as ugly and unfit another. Views swiftly change based on mood, situation or new perspectives. The power of art lies within the synergy that occur when combining a creator and a beholder.

The opinion of how to interpret art is both highly individual and versatile – you cannot accuse your neighbour for being wrong in his opinion, nor him you in yours.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The Ego decides – to like or not to like.
